Hey!
OK as you know I have yet another photo shoot and it is quickly approaching...am I sounding like a broken record?...are you feeling like you are reading the same post day after day? Well as familiar as it sounds to you... is as tired as I am of reporting the same ole same ole ...so lets hope that I take a phenomenal...DAMN that's HOT set of photos so that I can forge forth to some type of permanent and lasting "it" status. In the meantime, I have been spending my nights at home relaxing and basically taking it easy...as I tend to do during these periods. Many times these nights of relaxing are the perfect opportunity to surf the web...in search of inspiring things to set my mental tone...alright...who am I kidding? I am looking for anything mostly photos of other chicks that will give me that healthy jolt of "envy"...so that I do not continuously look to put a fork up to my mouth and chow down...DUH!
So last night was the season premier of Project Runway and yes, I watch TV occassionally but I only share what I watch as it pertains to the quest...and Project Runway like America's Next Top Model (see A Model Recipe: Watch, Learn, Party posted 10/20) mos definitely pertain to the quest.
Here's the Deal
First of all the beginner hopefuls competing in this show are on their own quest for "it" except in a different way and well... I am checking out any show where people (much like myself) are truly talented, deserving and in need of fame fortune and respect. The truly interesting thing for me is that I think watching it may be some sort of good luck...why? dunno...OK ...yes, yes I do know and name dropper that I am...I am going to share precisely why. In the Winter/Spring of 2004 I was at a very, very hot after party... at the Park I mean this was a hot party on the upper level. I didn't even know about it except it was after a fashion show for one of my clients*** where I had happily filled up on sushi and was enjoying meeting new very cool people on the elevated VIP level when I got this pass to come to an after party...an afterparty to the party I was already at...get it? I digress...anyways...so I end up at the Park I was there with my then sometime intern,**** but really as he likes to call himself MIT- Mogul in training Aaron Diaz. Aaron and I were having a great time, but were very tired after attending a show, after party and then another after party...we actually had branched off...before long I notice Aaron is in the corner talking to one of the accessories designers in the show we had just seen. The designer was kind of young, goateed and wore a scarf on his head like a gypsy...interesting I thought!...turns out it was the then unknown Jay McCarroll who was sooo cool to hang with...did not say too very much but was really cool. We had no idea at all that he would shorlty be a candiate on the first Project Runway let alone the first winner ever on that show...CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY!!!!
Alright so moving on with my Project Runway associations...I was carefully watching the current hopefuls for season 2 as they were speaking to the camera ..saying who they were and what they did..long story short Zulema Griffin the fiesty black chick...I believe this girl used to live in my apartment!!! CRAZY!!!! and how do I know it is her? because I distinctly remember getting mail...OK...bills...in the name of Zulema Griffin in my mailbox for 6 months easy! Other neighbors in the building at the time said that they had been friends with her and that she had to move suddenly...dunno the deal there but...can this six degrees of separation twice in regards to this one show be positive?...hmmmmmmmmm. Anyways I guess as time permits I will be checking out this show--it will culminate I am guessing around the time of the next Fashion Week in February 2006...which of course is on my mind already...gotta think ahead...y'all.
I am rooting for the tall bearded guy Santino, who seems to be completely in touch with the fact that he is a genuis...well...uh...his designs are fierce...film at 11:00!
***- client as in Gen Art...if I remember correctly the event was the Gen Art 2003 Styles competition.
****-yes, intern oh yeah I was really "working it" back then Aaron was learning the ropes...but really he is now a designer...a designer of glitzy streetwear type hats...GO FIGURE!
