The word is out! London Collections: Men is set to be the strongest showcase of menswear this summer with over 60 designers confirmed to show in London between June 16th - 18th 2013. The line-up of shows and events sees some of menswear's most prominent international names showing alongside Britain's renowned heritage designers and rising stars.

News from across the pond reports that this morning, the Chairman and CEO of the British Fashion Council, Natalie Massenet and Caroline Rush officially opened London Fashion Week AW13 alongside Minister for the Creative Industries, Ed Vaizey. They outlined the BFC’s new three year strategy and plans to commission a report on Manufacturing and Textiles for the UK that will outline the opportunities that the sector can take forward.

The provisional schdule for London Fashion Week A/W 2013 has been updated. Shows and Exhibitions will run from February 15-19. What else is news? Superstar mega-singer Rihanna is collaborating with River Island, who will launch an evnt during London Fashion Week featuring clothes and accessories designed by the star.

Though today, the FINAL day of London Collections: Men A/W13 is under way, there's a bit of catching up to do. Over the last few days, amazingly fresh menswear collections have been viewed. Three days of shows bring an array of London's brightest emerging talents, British Heritage brands, and international names.
Noteworthy collections so far include: Alexander McQueen, Topman Design, Vivienne Westwood MAN, Jonathan Saunders, CP Company.
On Day 1 Topman Design showed its relaxed layered looks are straight forward no-nonsense sleek menswear at its best. Primarily, well crafted looks for the city much of the outwear is ideal for the slopes. Colors range from off-white to navy and burgundy with splashes of orange mixed in.
Vivienne Westwood MAN was among the shows on Day 2. The A/W13 Collection is inspired by David Attenborough's documentary 'Frozen Planet". With a focused on climate change and the environment. Head Designer Andreas Kronthaler explained, 'My design has been printed on a t-shirt provided by sustainable manufacturers, ANVIL. The ‘Tree-shirts’ will be sold exclusively through YOOX.com on a worldwide level and in our Milan shop during menswear fashion week with all proceeds to be donated to the GreenUp! fund, helping to re-plant trees in Europe’s worst affected regions." On the runway were denim, fur and shearing collared outerwear--brilliant.

The final show scheudule for the London Collections: Men has been revealed. Over 60 designers are now confirmed on the official show schedule for AW13.
London Collections: Men will launch with an event to celebrate British
menswear on Monday 7th January followed by a reception hosted by Tommy Hilfiger and Esquire. The three day showcase will close with the GQ Dinner, co-hosted by Dylan Jones, Tinie Tempah and Sir Paul Smith and an event hosted by Tom Ford
As London Collections: Men kickstarts the menswear calendar on Monday, they are uniting fashion and digital innovation. The London Collections: Men website will be home to all digital content over the three days including show footage, daily highlights and catwalk collection galleries. London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 now on its fourth day, is a whirlwind off and running. The killer shows Days 1-3 have included: Temperley London, Mulberry, Stella McCartney, and Nicole Farhi.
Mulberry Creative Director Emma Hill insists on Classic English style and looks to French style icons such as Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent as living in the better decades of Fashion. For Autumn/Winter 2012, lush outerwear, a myriad of furs, adorns sleek silk frocks and layered separates.
On Day 2 Alice Temperley lavishes her current collection, Temperley Autmn/ Winter 2012, with soft floral prints. Her inspiration? “Paintings and portraits from the beginning of the Renaissance movement, rich damask textures, tapestries and wallpapers with ornate jewel-tone colour palettes and elaborate gilt carvings and sculpture.” One of several standout looks includes: an ivory day dress with embroidered lace front.
Stella MCCartney, a fave for American Vogue's Anna Wintour, shows a Special Presentation, a mix of chic knitwear and separates with intricate innovative prints. The special presentation shown on Day 2, Saturday, February 18th is actually a pre-Autumn/Winter Collection as McCartney is set to show her Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection in Paris this March.

The last several days of London Fashion Week have been quite exciting, have they not? Days 3, 4, and 5 respectfully have brought everything from Mulberry and Mathew Williamson to Temperley London, Pringle of Scotland and favorite Burberry Prorsum to Tuesday's completion of the womenswear shows. So what can we expect from some of London's top design houses come Spring?
Day 3 standouts include: Nicole Farhi's fresh as a daisy daywear inspired by "flowers, ice cream and lightness". Prim and proper dresses that flatter the figure done in pale yellow or butter, are in contrast to more structured geometric looks done in pastel orange and pink. All functional fun for the new season.
On Day 4 Pringle of Scotland and Temperley London were of course standouts. However, Erdem's Spring collection inspired by the likes of Visconti, Helmut Newton, and the title Bonjour Tisstresse--caught many an eye. Artistic, intricate floral prints, perfected by the proper soft hues of sky blue, white and lavender.
Day 5 designers, many of which are newer names included Danielle Scutt, Mary Katrantzou ( formerly sponsored by NEWGEN), Osman (formerly sponsored by NEWGEN), and others. Standouts include Katrantzou's brilliantly vivid looks for Spring, colorful and chic. The designer was inspired by “Industrial fabrication versus formal beauty in nature." the collection can best be describe as artsy, colorful, wearable works of art--multi-colored textured and free--simply the best!
