Great News! Defensive End Michael Sam was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round on Saturday, becoming the first publicly gay player to be drafted by an N.F.L. team.
As a senior for Missouri, Sam was a first-team all-American and was named the Associated Press defensive player of the year in the Southeastern Conference.
Sam, a now openly gay athlete, went public about his sexual orientation in February. His declaration produced a mostly positive reaction, but he is now set to enter uncharted territory, should he make the team, as the first openly gay male athlete in the N.F.L. Click here for more.

The St-Germain Cocktail
2 parts MARTINI Prosecco
1½ parts St-Germain
2 parts Club Soda
Method: Stir ingredients in a tall ice-filled Collins glass, mixing completely. Think of Paris circa 1947. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Variation: Think of Sartre circa 1947. Be the lemon twist.
