Halloween on Park Avenue, what was it like? Well for a select crowd it was a "scary good" time via a very swank Halloween party at the home of New York CityPhilanthropist Sue Chalom. The evening was complete with clever costumes, sweet cocktails, and savory bites from the Upper Eastsidecaterer Acquolina.Maleficent, the recent Disney hit, was the theme of the evening with projections of colorful forrest themed holograms filling each room. Costumes ranged from wickedly good Maleficenthorns to artful fairy-tale like characters. Faves were sexy sweet costumes like that of host Ms. Chalom, who wore aTop Shop Kate Moss creation (seems she was a good fairy) and devilishly daring costumes like that of guest, Jens, who appeared as a goblin-like, white-faced creature. Couples attire frequently matched. One duo sported the crazy real look of a dead wedding couple. Michelle & Sean Cummins, looked eerily like a couple who had met their "ultimate demise," with Mr. Cummins furnishing his real-life wedding certificate and wedding photo (circa 1992) minutes after one admired his costume--we loved it!

In 2007, Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spookywas commissioned by Art Center Nabi in Seoul,
Korea, and the Korean American Film Festival in New York to re-score the
classic 1956 film Madame Freedom. As he explains, "In the 1950s, Korea
went through a drastic modernization process. After the Korean War
ended, South Korea was firmly embedded in a Western cultural sphere,
families were put into radically unexpected contexts, and the rise of
independent women changed the face of society. The film was viewed as a
metaphor of the harmful westernization of all traditions in post war
Miller's new score for a string quartet
evokes the jazz of the nightclubs of the twenty-first century, and uses
electronic music composed to create more dynamic tensions in the story,
and to foreground the visual rhythm of the film's editing techniques.
The evening's screening will be accompanied by a live performance of the new score. Click hereto join the event on Facebook.
