The New Star Bar Debuts at Sundance with National Line Up

Have you heard? The Star Bar re-opens next week under completely new ownership with a full musical line-up for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.  The 6000 square-foot Star Bar located at the top of historic Main Street is completely remodeled and redesigned making it a modern upscale nightclub experience drawing national and international artists.

“The Star Bar is thrilled to offer the best JBL sound system in the state,” said Bill Johnson, one of the venue’s operators.  “Our patrons will be pleasantly blown away by the complete remodel of the new Star Bar,” he added.  Johnson says The Star Bar will fill the void that has long existed on Main Street for quality, live music in a more intimate environment with a capacity of just over 500.

The January line-up launches on the 17^th during the 2013 Sundance Film Festival next week featuring big-name acts such as One-Republic, Matishayu, Paul Oakenfold and the highly anticipated solo performance of Academy Award Nominee Courtney Love.

EVENT OF THE WEEK: DJ Spooky Concert at The Metropolitan Museum Oct. 26th

It all goes down TOMORROW Oct. 26th at 7:00 pm and there's still time to get tickets. DJ Spooky's Madame Freedom Screening at the Metopolitan Musem of Art with LIVE re-score is here! Check it!

In 2007, Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky was commissioned by Art Center Nabi in Seoul, Korea, and the Korean American Film Festival in New York to re-score the classic 1956 film Madame Freedom. As he explains, "In the 1950s, Korea went through a drastic modernization process. After the Korean War ended, South Korea was firmly embedded in a Western cultural sphere, families were put into radically unexpected contexts, and the rise of independent women changed the face of society. The film was viewed as a metaphor of the harmful westernization of all traditions in post war Korea...."

Miller's new score for a string quartet evokes the jazz of the nightclubs of the twenty-first century, and uses electronic music composed to create more dynamic tensions in the story, and to foreground the visual rhythm of the film's editing techniques.
