You may recognize the effervesent Amanda Seales aka Amanda Diva (at one point) as the TV Personality that hosts VH1's Master of the Mix or from her many stints as a talking head on Best Week Ever --another VH1 venture. if you're hot and heavy on the music scene, you may even recognize Amanda Seales via her numerous celeb DJ gigs across the country.
Whichever the case, it is difficult to pin the muti-faceted Seales down. A real life diva of a gal, no pun intended Seales, the CEO of Diva Works maintains her active schedule. We caught up with the beauty just before she went on the 1s and 2s at her own birthday brunch at Corner Social, one of the latest bar and grills frequented by hipster African-Americans in historic Harlem, New York City. Seales, along with Shayna D's The Diva Lounge, was toasting Cancer, as in the astrological sign, birthdays on this sunny Satrurday afternoon, via a Smirnoff Sorbet happy hour and a smile. Read on...
TW: It's Summer! You've just wrapped on your show Master of the Mix right? What's next for you?
AS: "The next project I'm working on....last year I did a woman show called Death of a Diva. It was really special and it did really well, I want to keep going speaking to women. I like being funny about how we can be our best in really just looking at ourselves. I think we can all do a little work in terms of like making better decisions, etc. etc, I know I can. So I created this new show, It's Complicated-Hilarious Questions to Serious Answers on Love because my friends are always asking me relationship questions.....-I've like somehow become this relationship guru to them, I don't know why but I figured you know what? They're not the only ones who are asking me this".
TW: Where and when will your one woman show take place?
AS: "Every Tuesday at the Stand Comedy Club in ATL starting August 2nd."
TW: And what about the DJing? How are you able to mix it in?
"For me dee-jaying is an added joy! Doing television is really my number one and doing web shows etc. Dee-jaying is the next thing that's attached to it because at the end of the day I just love playing music for people and I love music so I keep the dee-jaying mixed in-but I travel!"
TW: How long have you been DJing?
AS: "I started dee-jaying in 2003, but I didn't really get serious until 2010."
TW: And Fashion? Do you work that into things?
AS: "Definitely! I'm an artist. I'm a visual artist, so fashion to me is an extension of that. I try to treat myself as the canvas and get creative with what I'm putting together. I've gotten a lot more focused on that (fashion) as of late--it's fun!."
