On Monday February 23rd, The China Arts Foundation International** held it's 2nd Annual Gala, at 583 Park Ave in New York City. Every year, the China Arts Foundation International supports and co-hosts major events to promote participation of Chinese Americans and people from Greater China in all fields of American life. The evening was chaired by China Arts Foundation International Founder and Chairwoman Angela Chen along with Nicholas Pratt and celebrated the current Chinese New year. 2015 Honorees included: Jon Hunstman, Qiyue Zhang, Long Yu, and Lan Yan.***
The evening was a full one offering not only a generous cocktail reception including a red carpet followed by a traditional seated dinner but an extensive press conference opened the evening's festivities. Attendees descended to the lower level of the venue and perused works of art on view, several were curated by their respective artists--though many were drawn to Iris Levinson's, August, an acrylic on canvas listed for 2,000. Those in the mood for offerings beyond art were bemused by the Silent Auction which included items ranging from the tangible--such as a stylish Badgley Mischka Tote to the destination fantasy i.e.--a Wine Country Getaway Package to La Madonnaninna Private Italian Villa and so on. Proceeds are set to directly benefit the foundation.
The seated dinner allowed guests to enjoy a warm greeting from Angela Chen. Chen dressed chicly in black a wearing a very attractive Bulgari sponsored necklace spoke fondly about her organization and introduced their addition of immense talent, "Good news we now have our own very good orchestra, the China Arts Foundation International orchestra, which in December just gave us sold out concert music at Carnegie hall and tomorrow night will once again join the New York Philharmonic to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a special concert conducted by Maestro Yu." Chen's remarks were followed by the introduction not only performance by the impressive orchestra but introduction and brief words of thanks from each honoree.
The seated dinner ended with dessert of sweet treats from sponsor Magnolia Bakery and all guests departing with a custom gift bag of skincare products courtesy of Dr. Dennis Gross.
