Filled with understated elegance Zang Toi's SS17 collection is the epitome of Spring Style. Fresh, crisp and inspired--Glorious Giverny Garden. Giverny, a village in the Upper Normandy region of France, is most famously where painter Claude Monet lived and worked. The artist's former home and elaborate gardens are where he produced his famed water Lily series. Toi, like Monet, is a master of subtlety with his vivid floral depictions conveying a look that is feminine and regal.
Basic black paired with beige begin the show before the seemless transition to shades of Lilac and violet. Flowers depicted include an array of spring favorites wysteria, lilacs, and pansies. Fabrics are sleek and smooth comprised of cashmere, silk and wool.
Each look is as carefully crafted as the later with day wear appearing as sheath dresses, trousers or track pants matched with blazers or trench coats. Evening wear is at its finest--simple black adorned with hand encrusted jewels to hand embroidered Monet wisteria warmly around a silk shrunken cardigan.
Silhouettes range from column gowns with kimono sleeves to a men's evening suit-all sharply figure and physique flattering.
Standouts include: Violet handloomed wool and rayon sheath dress w/ hand encrusted lilac gem atone cap sleeves paired w/ lilac gem stone hand encrusted choker; a black satin Shantung boxy trench lined w/ Glorious Giverny Garden silk twill
A stunningly accessible collection to begin 2017
