For fall 2015, Ulla Johnson delivers a vision of luxe bohemia. Far flung destinations spanning Kyoto, Jaipur, and Marrakech are touchstones for a weaving of Johnson’s signature global tapestry. The collection conjures a modern flower child as diaphanous gypsy frocks, embroidered tunics, and fringed knits are cast in a rich autumnal palate of nude, rust, and burgundy grounded in winter white, obsidian, and natural indigo. Hand wrought details are layered to maximalist effect-cabled hand-knits twist over macramé chiffon, hand-loomed alpaca capes pair with patchwork denim inspired by Japanese Boro, shaggy cardigans and jumpsuits are paired with sequin noil and batik prints. The groovy vibe is elaborated in fleece and jacquard patterns evoking Beni Ourain motifs, a group of ultra-rich pink tinted shearlings, and mixed knits accented with alpaca fur. Ulla Johnson continues to build her shoe range introducing studded boots and stilettos, hand beaded moccasins and fringed booties. The look is completed with a new signature bag pairing a classic shape with hand macramé and oversize tassels.
The downtown crowd sipped on signature St-Germain cocktails while they perused Ulla’s luxe bohemian looks. The drinks themselves perfectly complemented the collection’s autumnal palate which included shades of nude, winter white, burgundy and soft pink. As the presentation came to a close, Ulla was presented with a bouquet of flowers by her 7-year-old son Soran, a touching moment to end the evening.
