A very special evening was had by all on Tuesday, November 13 at New York City's, The Plaza. The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children's Annual Gala, a black-tie affair, began with a vibrant cocktail hour and culminated with a seated dinner so memorable that it is still on the lips of many New Yorkers. The NYSPCC the world’s first child protection agency, honored child advocates John and Margo Catsimatidis and Fox News Channel (FNC) Co-Host of “The Five”, Kimberly Guilfoyle with the Strength of Our Society Award at its Protecting Kids First Gala raised over $460,000 for their programs.

Event Co-Chair, Dr. Penny Grant the prominent pediatrician, Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff (see photo above), as well as the NYSPCC's Sabrina Martin all wore couture gowns courtesy of Designer Victor De Souza, an ongoing supporter of the organization, who was also in attendance.
Emmy-award winning journalist and Inside Edition host Deborah Norville served as emcee for the Gala. Gala Chairpersons included Amanda and Neil Friedman, Joan Granlund, Penny Grant, MD, Deborah Norville and Karl G. Wellner, Susan Shin, Dino A. Trevisani, and Cathy and Mark S. Weiss.
Mr. Catsimatidis is owner and CEO of The Red Apple Group and Gristedes Foods. He and his wife Margo are major philanthropic leaders in New York City, where they lend their time and support to many nonprofit organizations, including those that benefit children, such as the Boy Scouts of America, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, HealthCorps, which fights childhood obesity, Sinergie, which aids children with disabilities and their families, and the Police Athletic League, where every year they sponsor the PAL Holiday Party benefiting hundreds of underprivileged children.
Ms. Guilfoyle has served as a legal analyst for many news stations including Court TV, ABC News, and CNN, and previously hosted the crime-based weekend program “The Lineup.” She has covered major legal cases involving children such as Jon Benet Ramsey and Natalee Holloway. Prior to her broadcasting career, she served as an assistant district attorney at the San Francisco and Los Angeles District Attorney's Offices.
