Designer Catherine Malandrino's Spring 2013 Black line is perfection! Described as "an overall mixture of chic elegant French concepts mixed in with the urban fast paced New York City look. A color palette comprised of light creams, white and pastels are constants. Spring fabrics include a mixture of light weight durable threads with special use of guipure. Looks that contain various crochet-like designs--spiderweb and /or diamond are included. Geometric beading from diamonds to rectangles to squares are repeated. Exemplifying Malandrino's current inspiration trend is a suede motor cycle jacket which embodies the edginess of New York with Swarovski beaded crystal adding the femininity of the French persona.
Standouts: a pink shrug paired with of printed suede python shorts accented w/ a crystal beaded belt to accentuate the waist from the shrug and the shorts; an enamel studded leather motorcycle jacket of hematite and cream enamel-personifies the concept of the chicness of the french and edgy roughness of the New Yorkers; wide leg high-waisted trousers with trapunto stitching down the front.
Expect a lot of mixed textures, from power stretch to stretch leather, printed wovens, mesh. Leather shrugs and knit shrugs are a favorite this season. How verstile is Catherine Malandrino Spring 2013? The collection quickly progresses from edgy to Victorian in a snap! A high-neck pleated cotton blouse with cobweb lace, eyelet shoulders, pleating down front says it all.
