Hello!
Pudding Stones, an intimate venue on the Upper Westside was the locale for Toast to Fashion, the recent trunkshow and wine tasting presented by Sara Claire & Esther. Over wine and pairings of the eatery's cheese and fruits, attendees were able to peruse (by soft candle light) looks from Spring 2010 and select pieces from previous collections.
The design duo behind the brand Aimee Mars and Sara Jordan welcomed arriving guests, and personally shared not only the inspiration behind the various collections, but explained some of the key aspects of their signature looks. Spring 2010 Valley of the Belles,*** brought vintage re-imagined garments to life. The "Belle" is a pull from the designers Southern roots, the result is southern sophistication--elegant, feminine, unique and one of a kind pieces. Fabrics include delicate silk crepes, silk organza, and cotton sateen in pale pastel shades of pink, rose and blue. Many include gold brocade or gold top stitching. The small offering of pieces from previous collections (Fall 2009) include, highly stylized looks inspired by Hollywood greats of the 30's & 40's (think Cary Grant or Ava Gardner) in rich hues of caramel, khaki, and midnight--and fabrics that include wool and poplin--pants and separates dominate this collection.
On the horizon for Sara Claire & Esther?... Men's neckties. Carefully crafted pieces created just this month will incorporate some of the same fabric as their popular dresses with a gold chain on the reverse side of each. Look for the complete collection to be available come Fall of this year.
Future Toast to Fashion events are planned for Spring--STAY TUNED.
***-Valley of Belles (Spring 2010) reaches back to the year 1967-- a year in their Grandmother's lives (their grandmothers Sara Claire & Esther are re-imagined in ALL of their collections) and were inspired by the cult movie classic Valley of the Dolls.
