The recent Carefree Fresh Start Fund event in collaboration with Step Up Women's Network was a special one. On Monday, October 19th Step Up Women's Network Members, and a few non-members, gathered at Fifth Avenue's ultra chic Chakra Spa for a perfect celebratory event. The evening honored the top three Carefree Fresh Start Fund recipients, as well as featured guest speaker Actress Kelly Rutherford and Author of The First 30 Days Ariane de Bonvoisin.
The top 3 funding recipients (finalists) Melanie Purcell, Lisa Roberts and Pilar Vasallo each received a personal consultation with change expert and Author Ariane de Bonvoisin, and a two-day, three-night trip to New York City. To apply for funding each finalist shared why they wanted a fresh start, what their plans were for reaching their goal, and how the funding could help them. The entries were selected by a panel of judges on the strength of their plans, use of funding and persuasiveness. The public determined the funding allocations by voting online for the best fresh start plan.
Notable speeches came from Ms. Rutherford on how her own personal fresh start came via "being a mother", causing her to eat forever healthfully organic, while Author Ariane de Bonvoisin espoused that change all begins with "optimism".
