Nylon Magazine's 9th Anniversary Party
Hi!
Who could resist an invite to Nylon Magazine's 9th Anniversary Party, certainly not The Quest for "it" although we weren't officially invited, we had to make a few calls for this one. Style Director Dani Stahl had our back regarding entry--and so it goes-- we
headed over to the still pleasantly undiscovered 1OAK. Upon entry a tall, attractive and bubbly Nylon employee by the name of Ariella indicated that at each banquette there were gifted items available, all one need do was to provide one's name, email address etc. to take advantage of the offers. Sounded good to us!
Before the legions of revelers arrived, we thought it a good idea to check out the gifted items being offered which ran the gamut from shoes, like Vans and Doc Martens, to t-shirts and accessories by 55DSL. The bar was flanked with attendees getting their drink on. Opposite the bar we spotted Dani Stahl enthralled in conversation with Publisher Jaclynn Jarrett, as well as Associate Publisher Karim Abay, who was circulating the candle-lit room. We did not see the anti-socialite actress and Anniversary Issue cover girl Chloe Sevigny, who was set to host the event.
Celeb DJ Paul Sevigny was spinning Billy Bragg's New England, later followed by The Tom Tom Club's Pleasure of Love, later followed by Dominatrix's The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight, later followed by Heaven 17's Let Me Go, and last we remember was Gang of Four's I Love a Man in Uniform...so you get the point here, right? The music was pretty INTENSE. Attendees ranged from Current Project Runway Winner Christian Siriano to camera wielding New York City it girl Kate Schelter, and everyone in between including: Baby Phat's Director of PR BJ Coleman, Model Keenyah Hill (America's Next Top Model), Publicist Wilson Matthews (See photo above left), Actor Gregg Bello, ArtWing's Scott Buccheit and Naeem Delbrdige, Sarah Lewitinn aka DJ Ultragrrrl, DJs Andrew Andrew, Richie Rich, Jun Nakayama, etc...yes, it was FIERCE. There were a few more familiar faces in the crowd, but many we were unable to place by name. However, we did see 'Pretty Smart' & 'Sunshine Daydream' two beauties recently featured in the All the Real Girls article of the Anniversary Issue which also doubles as the Beauty Issue--HOT!
In all, the party which became increasingly crowded by the second -- S H O C K ER -- was as they say "off the hook". The cameras were flashing, the complimentary bar was flowing, the very indie crowd was dancing...apparently we missed glimpses of celeb Nick Cannon, and Designer Charlotte Ronson. Oh well, nobody's perfect, but this party sure was!
Happy 9th Anniversary Nylon!
