The final day of New York's famed Fashion Week and nearly the very last show of Style 360 brought about the SPR 08 collection of designer Malan Breton. The debut of the once Project Runway contestant was quite classic in presentation. Inspired from a photograph of Mr. Breton's ancestors on holiday in French Colonial Indochina the collection presented simple tailored looks. The collection was enhanced by subtle imaginative hues of Golden Pearl, Ginger, Raw Sugar,Azure, Cloud, Conch, Salt crystal, Red Lacquer and Onyx.
A bit of 60's glam was present in several looks ranging from sheath to babydoll like cocktail dresses that could easily be worn from day to evening. A standout was a Double layer Silk Organza and Onyx Silk Crepe de chine short Tuxedo dress with jade Lilly at back. A look Mr. Breton is able to execute with perfection. Other looks included: Raw Sugar Silk Crepe Sleeveless Blouse and Conch Silk Twill Double Layer Bias Cut skirt and an Onyx Silk Cotton Faille One Button Blazer with Onyx Silk Twill Lounging Trousers, also standouts.
Much of what came down the runway was very promising and this collection will no doubt be a favorite amongst the jet-setting on holiday type of woman.
A wide array of silk blends drape into the eco-friendly garments of the season making his fashion very of the moments yet classically timeless at the same time. To use the designers own words this is the beginning of "couture refinement" at its best.
